Theoretical Discussions of Ghazal in ” DUYAZAD”

Abstract

“Dunyazad”, the book series published under the editorship of Asif
Farukhi possesses a unique status. It was initiated in October 2000
from Idara-e-Shehrzad Karachi. In October 2019, Book No. 48 was
published. The thoughtful editorials of “Dunyazad”, fine translations
of world literature, thought provoking writings of genius writers,
beautiful poems, suggestive stories and the Ghazals of sublime
creative level which are in harmony with the contemporary demands,
are behind the popularity of “Dunyazad”. As far as the genre of
Ghazal and “Dunyazad” are concerned, critical articles on creative
Ghazal as well as Urdu Ghazal can be seen on the pages of
“Dunyazad”. In these articles, where one gets an impression of
opposition of Urdu Ghazal by some of the critics; some critics have
penned down in favour of Urdu Ghazal as well. It feels that
“Dunyazad” has played its part in the survival of the genre of Urdu
Ghazal.
