Khalida Husain established herself as a short story writer during ‘60s.
She presented in her writings the contemporary political, social and
economic facts in an impressive way. During the decade of ‘60s, the
new short story being produced was different in its style and reasons
which it initially received from its time. This is the reason that Khalid
Husain’s stories are a construction of the contemporary facts and
inner feelings. She presents mystic ideas and the problem of
existentialism in her stories. From this perspective, the anthologies of
her stories: “Darwaza”, “Pehchaan”, Masruf Aurat are a reference to
her contemporary consciousness. The paper under study explores her
contemporary consciousness in her short stories.
